Federal Tax Update
The Federal Tax Update panel will discuss several TCJA related updates
including proposed regulations, notices and other guidance issued in the
past several months. Other significant income tax changes resulting from
legislation and court decisions will also be covered. On the estate tax front,
Anu Mullikin will highlight the latest court rulings, private letter rulings
and new and proposed regulations in the estate, gift and generation skipping
transfer tax areas.
Hot Topics in M&A
This session will explore current trends in mergers and acquisitions that
advisors can utilize to guide their clients through the M&A process. Topics
will include: positioning a company for sale, unique M&A tax issues, the
tax benefits and strategies of Section 1202 Qualified Small Business Stock
and the increasing popularity of quality of earnings reports.
Blockchain and Cryptocurrency
With the sharp rise in price of cryptographic currencies such as bitcoin,
media attention tends to emphasize the hype surrounding the price hike
while minimizing the profound impact the underlying technology (blockchain)
will have on society. His presentation will dispel many of the myths
surrounding cryptographic or virtual currencies while highlighting the
overall value of blockchain technology. Through case studies and the
analysis of current events, the attendee should walk away with a better
understanding of cryptographic currencies such as bitcoin and the revolutionary
New Hampshire Society of CPAs
